Romario: CBF have failed Neymar and Brazil

The iconic striker says the organisation is only interested in making money and is thus responsible for the "disintegration" of the Brazilian game

Romario has accused the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) of ruining the country's proud footballing heritage and claimed that the governing body have not only failed Selecao captain Neymar but the national team as a whole.
Brazil were humiliated as hosts of last year's World Cup by being routed 7-1 in the semi-finals by eventual champions Germany and are now desperately looking for answers again after losing on penalties to Paraguay in the last eight of the Copa America.
However, former Selecao striker Romario says he knows exactly who is to blame, arguing that the national team is paying the price for the CBF's alleged greed.
"I do not need to talk much about the shame that we have suffered in seeing our Selecao struggle on the field," he is quoted as saying by SPORT. "But the problem goes far beyond the pitch.
"The disintegration of our football is happening at all levels and stems from the CBF.
"In recent years, they have only thought of [lining] their own pockets and continue sucking everything they can [out of the game].
"Football has survived until now because of the talent on the field. Brazil had enough players to build two great teams, but today they cannot even make one. This is a reflection of the lack of investment and management [by the CBF]."
Romario then singled out CBF president Marco Polo Del Nero for special criticism, claiming that his decision not to travel to Chile for the Copa America symbolised the lack of support for Neymar, whose tournament was ended by a four-match ban incurred for his dismissal after the full-time whistle in Brazil's group-stage loss to Colombia.
"If there had been leaders in Chile, Neymar most likely would not have had such a hard punishment," the former Barcelona forward added. "He had to have a strong legal support to ensure that the punishment was milder.
"Neymar is the star of Brazil and will now miss the first two games of the qualifying for World Cup 2018."

6 Tips for a Ripped Six-Pack

Stop neglecting your abs training. These six strategies will help you retool your training to get the midsection you want

Here are 6 tips to help you conquer your abs neglect

Train abs, calves and forearms together

The big-boy lifts—the ones that build the most muscle—are quite understandably the priority for most guys at the gym. The problem is, once you're finished squatting, leg pressing and benching yourself to complete exhaustion, you probably don't want to dive into an abs session. To remedy this, We recommends scheduling one session a week for abs, calves and forearms. "Training all of these bodyparts together in one session ensures that you're attacking them with the utmost intensity," he says. "No need to worry about being too tired to get to them at the end of your workout"

Do your abs at home

The good thing about abs is that they can be trained anywhere. "If you find spend some time at night watching television, promise yourself to do abs during all commercial breaks," says M&F Senior Science Editor Jim Stoppani, PhD. Cycle between reverse crunches, oblique crunches and regular crunches for sets of 12-20 reps. You can also do this at the office. Every hour drop to the floor and cycle through these three exercises. (Note: This works best if you have an office with a door, or if you're not concerned about your coworkers thinking of you as a body-obsessed lunatic)

Do your abs in traffic

Yeah, you read that right. In traffic. But how? "Do static ab contractions while driving," says Stoppani. "Simply flex your abs and hard as possible while crunching down and exhaling. Hold for a count of five, then relax and repeat until you get to where you're going." You can also work your deep transverse abdominis—the muscles that keep you from having the dreaded beer gut—by pulling your belly button in toward your spine, and holding for a count of 10. Repeat this up to 10 times

Do staggered sets

In between sets, instead of resting with your glutes on the bench, rest that muscle group while doing an ab exercise between sets. "But only use this method if working a smaller bodypart," cautions Pena. "Doing abs in the middle of a heavy workout—between sets of squats, for example—can weaken your core and put you at risk of injury"

Learn to multitask

Instead of walking out on a good abs workout, learn how to multitask. In particular, you'll want to read up on the tri-sets method, which presents an equally challenging spin on the abs/calves/forearms workout listed above, and the cardio/abs HIIT (high-intensity interval training) routine, which is guaranteed to work in no time flat

Rethink abs training

Instead of merely focusing on the aesthetic reward at the end of the tunnel, give more thought to how abs training contributes to your overall body composition. "Having a strong set of abdominals absolutely makes you stronger on all of your bigger lifts like squats, deads, benches, and overhead presses," says Pena. "And those are really the lifts that cause lasting, dramatic changes in your body because they work the most muscle. If you're skipping abs workouts, then you're not just

The BEST Kettlebell Exercise for Abs?

The Kettlebell Renegade Row

The way that your abs and your whole core (which includes your glutes, your midsection, your lower back and those muscles in the middle of your back) functions is as a stabilizer.
Say for example, if I’m doing a kettlebell swing or I’m doing a goblet squat, my abs are tightening up to stabilize my trunk during functional movements.
So here is an exercise called the renegade row. This is a unique exercise, you may have see it before, but it is a great total body ab movement.
Grab two kettlebells. The basic version has you practicing shifting your weight back and forth. Shift your full weight to one side while keeping your abs tightened like you are doing a push up.  This is SUPER helpful to get the proper weight distribution of the movement down.
Then you can go ahead and add a row to it.  The move should now be exactly the same, except you’re actually doing a row.
If you want to make it more difficult, you can add a push up between each row.
Also important to note, my abs are bracing really hard to stabilize as I shift my weight and do a row on one side.
This is a total body exercise with a strong emphasis on the abs. There’s the kettlebell renegade row – a great exercise for abs!

5 tips to KILL your workout

Arnold Schwarzenegger knows how to have a killer workout – scene from “Pumping Iron”.
I’ve had great workouts, and I’ve had workouts that were just so-so. Sometimes it’s the sleep I had the night before, the meal – or lack thereof – that I ate before, or the routine I was doing.
There are, however, some steps you can take to ensure you have a great workout.

1. Shorten your workout
Limit your workout to a 30-45 minute session. Intensity is king whether you’re after fat loss, building lean mass, improving your athleticism, or a bit of everything. The more intense and focused your workouts are, the more successful you’re going to be.
Know what you’re doing when you get in there and don’t waste time. If you lose steam during your rest periods, try shortening them by 15 seconds.

2. Lift to failure
When I say “failure“, I mean failure within the proper form for the exercise. If you can’t finish the lift with the right form, then you fail.
Even if you’re feeling a little flat, lifting until you fail can give your muscles the boost they need. I’ve gone into the gym on ‘bad days’ and lifted for a rep count, not to failure. My muscles felt weak, drained and flat. As a result I never quite got into the workout. But I’ve had ‘bad days’ where every set was to failure and I ended up having great workouts.
That pain you experience in the last few reps can really wake you up and make a difference in your workout.

3. Get a good night’s sleep
Aim for at least 8 hours a night. Your body needs sleep in order to recover from a workout, but also to prepare for one.
If I don’t get enough sleep, no matter if I drink a cup of coffee or not, my muscles feel sluggish and not into it, if muscles can feel like that.

4. Have a plan
If you don’t know exactly what you’re doing when you get into the gym, you’re already falling a step behind. Have your workout written down, know the exercises you’re going to be doing and go at them hard.
I see people on a daily basis walking around the gym thinking what they’re going to be doing next. It sucks the intensity right out of their workouts. I’ve done it before, I actually used to do it in high school and couldn’t gain a pound – go figure?
Choose a program wisely, but once you’ve chosen it, follow it to a tee.

5. Compete against yourself
Having a lifting partner that’s at your strength level or stronger is ideal, but if you don’t have one – heck, even if you do – compete against the number’s you posted last week.
This means you have to keep
